A network of innovation investors and leaders, the Kauffman Fellows are operating at 310 venture capital, corporate, government, and university investment organizations in 43 countries on 6 continents. Commencing each summer, a class of 32-38 emerging innovation leaders (new Kauffman Fellows, sponsored by their firms) engage in a practical 24-month apprenticeship of coaching, mentoring, field research, and quarterly industry and leadership curriculum sessions in Silicon Valley--all while continuing to work full-time at their sponsoring organizations. In addition, Fellows attend annual summits held around the world. Kauffman Fellows put themselves at the service of entrepreneurs, with the mission of helping to build enduring new businesses that generate long-term returns for principals, investors, and society as a whole. They are inspired by Ewing Marion Kauffman’s legacy of promoting economically independent individuals who give back as engaged and contributing citizens. Guided by Kauffman’s emphasis on shared ownership, accountability, and experimentation, we measure success in enduring new businesses that generate long-term returns for principals, investors, and society as a whole. The Kauffman Fellows Program is administered by the Center for Venture Education in palo Alto, California, a 501(c)(3) post-graduate educational institution dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation throughout society.
